Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessments

Professional, Accessible Autism Assessments

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments are now available at Mountainside Wellness, conducted by Jeremy Williams, a Registered Professional Counsellor, ADHD Clinical Services Provider, and Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist.

Jeremy combines professional training with lived experience to offer comprehensive, affirming, and evidence-based autism assessments for teens and adults.

Each assessment is available for $1,000 or on a sliding scale basis - considerably below the national average cost of $2,000 to $3,500. This lower rate reflects our commitment to making diagnostic services accessible to Indigenous, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, and neurodivergent communities.

Although an autism assessment through Mountainside Wellness can help streamline the diagnosis process (offering individuals and families quicker access to answers, support, and referrals) it is not a formal diagnosis. Whether you are pursuing accommodations, seeking clarity, or exploring neurodivergent identity, our assessment process is structured, respectful, and informed by best practices.

The assessment includes two sessions: a full intake, and a developmental history and standardized, in-depth assessment that is done in a friendly and engaging one-on-one clinical interview. Assessments also include a comprehensive final report with detailed impressions and personalized recommendations. We can also provide optional documentation to support accommodations in school, work, or healthcare settings where applicable.

Mountainside Wellness provides autism assessments that are neurodivergent-led, trauma-informed, and grounded in current best practices. We offer timely services with no waitlist, and every assessment is rooted in widely recognized scaling tools and frameworks.

Sources and tools used in the assessment include:

  • DSM-5-TR (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition, Text Revision): Defines diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder in North America, including persistent challenges in social communication and restricted, repetitive behaviors.

  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2): A semi-structured, gold-standard tool for observing communication, social interaction, and play.

  • Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R): A structured interview conducted with caregivers to explore developmental history and behavioral patterns.

  • Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS-2): Measures the severity of social impairment associated with autism.

  • Gilliam Autism Rating Scale (GARS-3): Frequently used in school and clinical settings to assess characteristics of autism.

  • Canadian Autism Spectrum Disorder Alliance (CASDA) and Canadian Paediatric Society: Provide national best practices for early identification and community-based models of care.

  • World Health Organization’s ICD-11 (International Classification of Diseases): An international diagnostic framework used alongside the DSM-5.
